NICKNAME?
TC
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A DIRECTOR?
Since 1999
WHY WERE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING A DIRECTOR?
Clubs form a major fabric within the community and contribute to many sporting, community groups and charities. Initially I was approached by other members and after some thought I believe that I had something to offer and became keen to contribute to the ongoing success of a club that could have so much impact on supporting the community in which I live.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT BEING A DIRECTOR?
The fact that we get to contribute to the ongoing success and future growth of Aster Group and it’s facilities, whilst meeting many amazing people within our community that volunteer their time for the betterment of many in need. ‘You reap more than you sew’ so it is very humbling and rewarding to play a part in contributing to many worthy recipients of club grants etc.
IN YOUR TIME AS BEING A DIRECTOR, WHAT HAVE BEEN SOME OF THE KEY MILESTONES?
Initiating and being part of our Youth Achievement Awards that keep going from strength to strength and recognise the amazing achievements of the Illawarra’s young people. Being a part of the Bandage Bear and Disability Trust Gala Evenings and playing a part in the ongoing viability and growth of Aster Group through many challenging economic and political periods and ensuring we offer secure employment for our staff are highlights for me.
DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN FIVE WORDS:
Energetic, passionate, honest, dedicated and principled.
WHAT DO YOU SEE AS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE FOR
OUR INDUSTRY OVER THE NEXT FIVE YEARS?
The ongoing challenges and change in meeting community and government body expectations. Also the changing demographics in which we operate and keeping the facilities and offerings attractive to our members so that they continue to utilize and support the club.
Clubs form a major fabric within the community and contribute to many sporting, community groups and charities. I enjoy contributing to the ongoing success of a club that could have so much impact on supporting the community in which I live..
